Our Vision

Frac Innovation was founded by Kevin Wutherich and Kirby Walker to bring our patented orientation tool “The Orient XS” to market.  With long careers in hydraulic fracturing, this duo quickly realized how such a simple tool could revolutionize how orientation is done.

The accuracy of internal bearings... 

By offsetting the perforating guns from the plug setting tool, the Orient XS turns the guns themselves into an eccentric weight. 

This results in orientation accuracy of +/- 5° which is similar to the accuracy of expensive, internal bearing orientation tools.

… the cost of eccentric weights ... 

Until now, accurate orientation required expensive hardware.  The use of multiple moving parts in these high-end tools both increases manufacturing costs while also increasing potential failure points.

The Orient XS is a simple sub machined from a single piece of steel and contains no moving parts resulting in a low-cost orientation tool that can be re-used many times before needing to be re-built.

… and the ability to measure orientation 

By placing a small memory gyroscope and motion sensor within the Orient XS electrical pass-through, the exact orientation of every perforation fired can be accurately recorded.
